                  Back ground information and Life

Salvador Felipe Jacinto Dalí was born on May, 11th 1904 in Figueras, Catalonia, Spain to his father Don Salvador Dali y Cusi and to mother Felipa Domenech. In 1907 his sister Ana Maria was born. Dalí's older brother, also named Salvador (born October 12, 1901), had died of gastroenteritis nine months earlier, on August 1, 1903. That made Dali the only young male in his house. His house was full of females, his mom, sister, aunt, grandma and nurse. With having all of the adult females in his house, they all were very overprotective of him, and he got a lot of attention. A lot of times he didn’t think it was enough attention so he would act out to get more attention. He would frequently throw temper tantrums and would force himself to have coughing fits. He would also wet his bed on purpose to make his father mad until he was about 8 years old. By the time Dali turned 10 he stopped acting out so much and began to show his interest in art. By the time he was 15 he already set up his own art exhibition. In 1921 Dali entered the Madrid Fine Arts School. When starting school, he was hoping that this would fuel his interest in Futurism and Cubism. When doing that, Dali was suspended for a year for urging students to to rebel against the schools authorities. A few years later the school decided to expel Dali for similar reasons.
